How to choose the right CBSE school for your child

Choosing a CBSE school can feel overwhelming. There are over 30,000 CBSE-affiliated schools across India, and every one of them claims to be the best. This guide cuts through the noise.

1. Start with your non-negotiables. Distance from home, fees range, and medium of instruction are the three filters that should come first. Cast a wide net, but don't compromise on these.

2. Visit before you decide. Brochures lie; classrooms don't. Walk the corridors, watch the kids during a break, and notice whether teachers smile.

3. Ask the right questions. What's the average class size? How are weak students supported? How often do teachers communicate with parents?

4. Look beyond academics. A school that nails toppers but ignores sports, arts, and mental health is not a great school — it's a coaching centre.

5. Trust real parents over rankings. Talk to current parents in the school's WhatsApp groups or community. Their unfiltered take is worth ten brochures.
